The Story Behind the Cards

Welcome to Qquip!

Thank you for visiting the new QquipAiApp.com! This blog will help you learn the history of Qquip, get some good game tips, and provide some insight into the future of the game.

Qquip is a new and exciting tabletop card game where 2 to 6 players race to complete a funny, silly, or wacky word phrase. While it may sound simple, the game is filled with dramatic twists and turns. Between each nerve-racking card pull, unexpected 'lose a turn' card, and other traumatizing gameplay moments, you'll find out just how challenging it can be. Super fun, right?!

The Secret History of Qquip

Originally, back in 2010, Qquip started as an online social blogging tool, similar to Twitter. The big exception was that Qquip rewarded people with points for using certain keywords in their blog posts. If someone wrote something funny, witty, or unique, they would earn special Qquip points.

Users could then use their points to play a "Qquip Word Game" or "Qquip Trivia Game" on the site. Points could even be transferred to a gift card or used to purchase items from the Qquip online store. The platform was designed to bring a real-time behavioral interaction word search engine to life for advertisers and users alike.

The Qquip social site operated in an alpha state for a few months before it was closed. It was a fun idea, but it didn't have the excitement I wanted in a game. After closing the project, I went back to developing software for my new indie console, the EVO: Smart Console (now known as OTON Infinity). Then, in early February 2011, I had a eureka moment at my office desk.

A Note from the Creator

"I was in my office one day, working on video game software, and suddenly I had this crazy idea for a card game. At the time, I didn't have a name for it, so I borrowed the name from my old software, Qquip—a play on 'quip,' which means a witty remark. I immediately left work and went home, where I started making prototype cards using printer paper and markers. That night, I grabbed my daughters to test the gameplay. I was nervous it wouldn’t work; however, I was wrong. They loved it! Qquip is the perfect challenge for kids and adults. I quickly learned that it also helped kids read and remember words with ease due to the repetition of the gameplay. So, Qquip offers a little something for everyone: adult fun, education for kids, and high-intensity gameplay for seasoned tabletop players, all-in-one game… incredible!”

Tips, Tricks, and Strategy

My kids and I love the game and play on a regular basis. The biggest fan of Qquip is my sister—we get so competitive playing against each other! That’s one of the great components of Qquip: the challenge. The game is simple on the surface: be the first person to complete the phrase. However, the true test is doing it without losing a turn, losing the cards in your hand, or losing your cards on the Qquip board.

You have to watch what other players play and be prepared for anything. That’s the beauty of the game; Qquip has a few strategies that players can master. The most important strategy is timing. Most four-player games can last anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes based on the phrase. We usually play between 3 to 7 hands on family game night.

The Future of Qquip

I was super excited to finally bring Qquip to PC and smartphones with the new website at QquipAiapp.com. It’s the same great play as the physical cards, but now it’s on your computer and phone. You can take Qquip on the go, play on your lunch break, in an Uber, or at the park. It doesn’t matter—you can enjoy the game anywhere now!

Look for new exciting features and super-powered cards to make the game even more fun. For over a decade, we’ve been making the best and most innovative games for tabletop players and families. We took a short break, but it feels good to be back! So grab the health drinks and snacks for a few tense hours of Qquip.
